Our Vision

Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo is dedicated to joyfully and practically manifesting Jewish spirituality in the world. Inspired by our teacher Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach z"l, who taught us that Judaism is a vibrant and meaningful way of life, we teach a spiritual traditional Judaism that is in constant dialogue with the complex modern world in which we live.

Jews today are socially integrated to a degree never before imagined yet so many of us are at the same time exploring our deepest roots. We strive to understand what it means to be Jewish in these complicated times, and as we grow, we seek new models for learning that help us strike a balance between the values of the wider world in which we live, and the intense spiritual development that we desire. In achieving that equilibrium, each and every one of us must reach deep inside to discover our own profound personal relationships with Torah, the Jewish People, and the Land of Israel. It is only then that we can cultivate the means for manifesting that Truth in the world. That is the vision of Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo.

That is why we bring together students from all walks of life and from all levels of Jewish background and education. In our diversity, we encourage one another to incorporate and share the knowledge, talents and experiences that we each already possess in the spiritual journey upon which we are now embarking together. Through a learning program that combines rigorous textual study in Talmud, Tanach, and Halacha with the intensity and power of Chassidic thought and practice, we probe that which unites us, searching for innovative ways of allowing Torah to infuse our lives with joy, meaning and understanding.

Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo is about Jews coming together to help one another actualize and achieve the extraordinary personal and collective potential that we possess. It is not just a Yeshiva. It is a model of Jewish learning and growth for the future.
