Sukkat Shaleym

Sukkat Shaleym is a non-profit organization dedicated to the manifestation of Jewish spirituality in meaningful, accessible, and practical ways.  Comprised of several Torah and Chessed projects, it provides Jewish enrichment in both Israel and the Diaspora.  Its programs reach out to Jews of all affiliations and backgrounds, cultivating Jewish unity and continuity.  Since its conception in July 2000, Sukkat Shaleym has expanded significantly to include the following Jewish learning and outreach programs:

  • The Rural Community Beit Midrash Project – A unique vehicle for re-forging connections between small Jewish communities through shared multi-level Judaic studies curricula encompassing text-based and experiential Torah, Talmud, Prayer, Meditation, Chassidut, and Jewish storytelling.
  • Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo - A full-time learning center offering dynamic women’s and men’s programs encompassing both text-base and experiential Torah, including, Talmud, Prayer, Meditation, Kabbalah, Chassidut, and Jewish storytelling.  The program is designed so that each student may form fulfilling relationships with the material, each other, and his or her own spiritual journey.
  • The Eco-Activist Beit Midrash – The Yeshiva’s latest project is an intensive program for environmental activists examining the deep connection between Torah and the contemporary ecology movement.
  • Hachnassat Orchim - Group hospitality and learning for Sabbaths and holidays.  Sukkat Shaleym provides a home in Jerusalem for Jews from all over the world, creating a welcoming atmosphere for many new to the country.  We serve more than 3,000 visitors per year.
  • Ohel Etel Sarah – Women Helping Women Providing birthing services, nutritional counseling, and therapeutic massage for women.
  • Virtual Beit Midrash - A developing program for providing learning materials and seminars via email and video-conferencing technology.
  • Hachnassat Kallah – Classes on the spiritual and religious legal aspects of marriage for men and women.
  • Gemillut Chassadim – Providing short-term interest free loans to Jewish families in need.
